Race Location
Delamere Forest is a large wood in the village of Delamere in Cheshire, North West England. The woodland, which is managed by Forestry England, covers an area of 972 hectares making it the largest area of woodland in the county. Host to no less than two sites of special scientific interest (SSSI) you may be lucky enough to spot some rare wetland plants and species of dragonfly.
The Mid-Cheshire Railway Line runs through Delamere Forest with Delamere Station located at SJ555704, less than 1km from our event village! The highest point within the forest is Old Pale hill, standing at 175m and providing views of twelve counties and metropolitan boroughs: Cheshire, Cumbria, Derbyshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Shropshire and Staffordshire in England, and Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Powys and Wrexham in Wales. For those keen Trigpointers there is also a trig point at the summit!
